Sri Lanka Making Good Bucks On Battered Jeans

Tattered Jeans In Sri Lanka

I bet you everyone or almost everyone has at least one pair of jeans in your closet. And for most people, brand name is the most important thing. You wouldn’t want to be seen around from the brandless pair from the market when GAP and LEVIS is the fashionable thing.

Anyways talking about jeans, I was reading this news today, and it was saying that Sri Lanka is making good money on tattered and frayed jeans. A lot of the Europeans and American are purchasing these looking old and worn jeans. In the town of Avissawella east of the capital Colombo, it takes a worker approximately 13 minutes to cut and sew basic five-pocket jeans. Then, to get a distressed look, they spend four days torturing these jeans by dying, bleaching, and sandpapering them. They usually dipped or dyed these jeans around 16-30 times until it gets the battered look. They do earn a lot of money in today’s trend. Company who buys from Sri Lanka includes, LEVIS, GAP, and PIERRE CARDIN- all well-known brands. These jeans really only cost 12 dollar for a pair, but often they are sell over 100 dollars when it is marked as “GAP”,”LEVIS” or “PIERRE CARDIN.”
